[Magnum] Steenberg 1682 Chardonnay Cap Classic 1.5L
Steenberg 1682 Chardonnay Cap Classic Magnum 1.5L
Manufacturer's comment
All are magnum-sized sparkling wines perfect for special occasions. They are made using the same methods and fermentation techniques (MCC) as in the Champagne region. They have a pale lemon color and delicate bubbles. Fresh fruit aromas burst forth. The taste is vibrant, with complexity from fennel and refreshing acidity. Flavors include lemon syrup, honey-soaked nectarines, baked croissants, and pistachios. A refreshing finish lingers for a long time.
Regular sizes are also available.

Producer Information
Established in 1682, Steenberg is the oldest winery in the Cape region. Located in the cool Constantia Valley, between Cape Town and Table Mountain, about 30 minutes from Cape Town, its name means "mountain," and indeed, there are rocky mountains nearby. The complex terroir has allowed it to produce numerous award-winning wines, including its signature Sauvignon Blanc, Merlot, and sparkling wines. Ownership has changed frequently since its founding with Catalina Ross, but in 2005, Graham Beck, a leading South African sparkling wine producer, became the owner, and he remains so to this day. The winery grounds, with their stunning scenery, also include a five-star luxury spa hotel, upscale private villas, a golf course, and two restaurants, making it a winery beloved by celebrities worldwide.
overview
●Cap: Cork
●Cultivation and soil: Weathered granite. Chardonnay grapes from vines aged 20-25 years.
●Production: Made using traditional Champagne methods. Grapes are hand-picked when the sugar content is low (17-19 degrees) and pressed whole cluster. The extracted juice, typical of Chardonnay, has low phenol content and a strong natural acidity. Fermentation with vigorous yeast raises the base of the wine. After the base wine stabilizes, the bottle is capped and secondary fermentation takes place. Secondary fermentation creates layers of bubbles. Aged for 12-18 months on the lees.
