Product Features
Top range. The first Cabernet Sauvignon produced at Warwick in 1984 was a single-vineyard variety, and for Warwick, Cabernet Sauvignon is a variety that is deeply ingrained in the company's DNA. While a blue label on a red wine is unusual, in South Africa, "blue label wine = Warwick Cabernet Sauvignon" is well-known and has been a marketing success.
Manufacturer's comment
Aromas of dark berries, blackcurrant, and dried herbs. A beautiful reddish-purple color, the 2018 vintage is characterized by its powerful tannins that support a rich fruitiness. Flavors of dark berries are followed by notes of oak and blackcurrant liqueur. The finish is long and lingering. Elegantly put together, the freshness makes you want another glass. A powerful and rich finish typical of Cabernet Sauvignon from the Stellenbosch-Simonsburg region. It also has aging potential. A wine with the character befitting Warwick's top range.

Producer Information
Warwick is one of South Africa's leading boutique wineries, located in the Stellenbosch region. It is a farm with a long history, dating back to 1771. Later, in 1964, former owners Stan and Norma...
Ratcliffe purchased Warwick, which was formerly a fruit farm. She began cultivating grapes in 1981, focusing on classic Bordeaux varieties (Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon). Norma Ratcliffe is dedicated to winemaking.
With determination and a vision, she became one of the first female winemakers. Warwick's "First Lady" series celebrates her achievements.
The first release of Warwick's label was in 1984. Since then, it has won numerous awards nationwide and grown into one of South Africa's leading brands, establishing its position in the market .
It is located in the hilly region of the Simonsberg Mountains, known as the Stellenbosch red wine zone, at an altitude of 240-360 meters. At this high elevation, cool breezes from the southeast blow into the vineyards during spring and summer.
The region boasts diverse slopes and varying clay-rich soil types, resulting in a unique terroir and complex, distinctive wines. The main soil types include granite-based Oakleaf and Tucle vineyards, which have cool east-facing, southeast-facing, and south-facing slopes, as well as slightly cooler, warmer west-facing slopes. One of South Africa's top Cabernet Francs is produced here in Warwick, with vineyards located on south-facing and southwest-facing slopes.
One of the things we pay attention to in cultivation is minimizing irrigation in order to express the unique terroir of this farm.
For over the past decade, recognizing the importance of biodiversity, we have strived to strike a balance between nature and winemaking.
Our soil has a high clay content, so the need for irrigation is very low, and in some fields, irrigation is not necessary at all.
Cover crops such as legumes and radishes planted in winter reduce the need for herbicides by considering soil health, organic matter, and microbial activity. As a result, many earthworms are present in the soil.
Regarding pest control, we utilize natural predators. All cultivation and management practices prioritize biodiversity. As a result, we have successfully eliminated problems with snails, weevils, and other harmful insects.
Warwick's philosophy is to never compromise on quality. We strive to provide the highest level of service in every aspect of our work. And the wine we aim for is elegance, expressed in a slightly understated, classic style to achieve that.
